Security guard dogs are one of the most neglected dogs in South Africa. At best, they sit, unstimulated, in a cage for 12 hours a day and are then taken out for 12 hours.
In most cases, they are under the care of security officers who are either not trained dog handlers or who do not care. The companies that rent out these sentient beings do not check out their dogs on a regular basis.
Thousands of security guard dogs sit in filthy cages for days, 2m x 3m being the average size, with kennels that are too small for them, faexes not swept up, in utter distress and boredom.
